CINCINNATI WXIX – Fire crews from Cincinnati are fighting a fire at a West Price Hill funeral home Saturday morning.
Crews responded at 7 a.m. to the Meyer & Geiser funeral home in the 4800 block Glenway Avenue
They found heavy smoke coming from the rear of the building when they arrived.
Crews reported that the fire quickly spread to the third level.
Although the building was not occupied, it was evacuated by fire crews.
“Obviously, with temperatures like these it’s very difficult companies to operate when they start going defensive,” Chief Operations Assistant Tom Lakamp stated. It’s extremely dangerous around the building. Although companies did a good job at making an initial attack to put out the fire, it was too advanced to be controlled.
According to the assistant chief, the building had been renovated multiple times making it unsafe for firefighters to work inside.
There have been no injuries.
At this point, we don’t know the cause or extent of the fire.
