The German Weather Service (DWD) has warned of a new heat wave. This begins on Tuesday and affects large areas of Germany, the DWD announced on Monday in Offenbach. Temperatures of up to 36 degrees Celsius can be expected on Wednesday and even up to 39 degrees on Thursday. The nights also remained “very mild to tropical” in many places, especially in metropolitan areas, with lows of around 20 degrees.
Elsewhere, 16 to 19 degrees are to be expected at night. According to the DWD, some rain is still to be expected on Tuesday, but sunshine will prevail on Wednesday and Thursday.
France is also facing a new heat wave: on Monday, temperatures of almost 40 degrees Celsius were expected in the south of the country, the national weather service warned. An increased warning level has been declared in several regions of the country. The high temperatures are expected to last for several days, with the heat wave expected to peak on Wednesday.
