The verdict against former US President Donald Trump is causing uproar in America and the rest of the world. Politicians, his family and Stormy Daniels have something to say – an overview of the opinions on the verdict.

After the conviction of former President Donald Trump in the hush money trial, dozens of onlookers gathered outside the court in New York. Some of them celebrated the verdict on Thursday, as a reporter from the German Press Agency observed on site. One woman held up a sign reading “Trump convicted” and danced, one man’s sign read “guilty” and another’s read “Lock him up.”

Other people engaged in heated discussions with Trump supporters. Numerous media representatives and a large police presence were also present. The park opposite the courthouse had been used since the beginning of the trial as a gathering place for onlookers and demonstrators – explicitly designated and guarded by the police.

US President Joe Biden has used the conviction of former President Donald Trump in the hush money trial to make an election appeal and to promote his own cause. “There is only one way to keep Donald Trump out of the Oval Office: at the ballot box,” the Democrat wrote on his private X-account on Thursday. “Donate to our campaign today.”

Biden’s campaign team said the trial in New York had shown that no one is above the law. “The threat Trump poses to our democracy has never been greater than it is today,” it warned in a statement released after the verdict. A second term for Trump would mean “chaos.”

The White House simply said that they respect the rule of law and had no further comment.

Former porn actress Stormy Daniels, who was a witness at the center of this trial, did not comment personally, only indirectly through her husband, who spoke to the TV channel CNN: “For her, the matter is not quite over even after the verdict, she is still processing the whole thing,” said Barrett Blade. “It is hard for her, but she also feels a little vindicated that people finally believed that she was telling the truth.”

Prominent Republicans and ardent supporters of Donald Trump have reacted angrily to the guilty verdict against the former US president in the hush money trial. Republican hardliner from the US House of Representatives, Jim Jordan, described the verdict on Thursday as a “farce”. The chairman of the House Judiciary Committee spoke of a “biased judge” and an “unfair trial” that only served to hinder Trump in the current presidential election campaign. Trump will be found right in the appeal process.

Trump’s son Donald Junior posted several messages on the X platform. One of them was: “Such bullshit!” The Democrats had succeeded in their years-long attempt to turn America into a “third world shithole”. With regard to the date of the presidential election, he warned: “November 5th is our last chance to save it.” Donald Trump wants to run against the Democratic incumbent Joe Biden. The guilty verdict does not prevent the Republican from running for election.

Former US ambassador to Germany Richard Grenell argued that the ruling could not stop Trump. Grenell wrote on X: “I have seen enough… Donald Trump has been elected the 47th President of the United States.”

Radical Republican congresswoman Marjorie Taylor Greene provocatively posted an upside-down US flag on X. This symbol is used by Trump’s supporters and also played a role in the attack on the US Capitol on January 6, 2021.

The campaign team of former US President Donald Trump asked supporters for donations immediately after the guilty verdict in the New York hush money trial. “I am a political prisoner,” it said in an email from the Trump team and on the Republican’s donation website.

But this donation portal went offline shortly after the verdict was announced for reasons that are still unclear. “WinRed,” the Republican online fundraising platform, was no longer accessible on the Internet.

Trump’s former security adviser John Boltin, now a critic of his, also spoke out: “Today’s ruling is an alarm in the night. The Republican Party now has one last chance to change course and not nominate a convicted felon for president.”

Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg, who was involved in the case, said after the verdict: “I did my job,” Bragg said. “While the defendant in this case may be different from anyone before him in history, we came to this trial and ultimately to this verdict today the same way we have come to every other case that comes before us – by following the facts and the law and by doing so without fear or favor.”

The ruling, which was made after the stock market closed in the US, also had an impact on the markets. The shares of Trump Media

Trump had recently been found guilty in a New York trial for concealing hush money payments to a porn actress. It is the first time in American history that a former president has been convicted of a crime.
