There were serious homicides in both Bielefeld and Offenburg this weekend. Both cases took place within the close environment.
In Bielefeld, a 51-year-old is said to have killed his wife in the house they shared. He dialed the emergency number himself on Sunday morning and reported it, police and prosecutors said. The alarmed officials then found the body in the house.
According to initial findings, the 49-year-old died “due to sharp acts of violence”. The man was arrested and is scheduled to appear before a magistrate on Monday. The police set up a homicide squad.
In Offenburg, a 44-year-old woman is said to have killed her daughter and sister in a homeless shelter. She then alerted the police herself via an emergency call on Saturday.
An arrest warrant was issued against the woman on suspicion of manslaughter in two cases, the police said on Sunday. The background of the crime was not initially known.
The dead – the 49-year-old sister and the 19-year-old daughter – were in the room of the alleged perpetrator. She allowed herself to be arrested without resistance when the police arrived. The public prosecutor’s office and the criminal police are still investigating the motive for the crime.
