This year’s Super Bowl is underway with the Cincinnati Bengals taking on the Los Angeles Rams at Inglewood, Calif.
After the conference championships, Sunday saw the matchup. In overtime, the Bengals defeated the Kansas City Chiefs 27-24 at the AFC Championship. The Rams won the NFC Championship by beating the San Francisco 49ers 20-17.
Since 2019, when the Bengals lost, the Rams and Bengals never met.
Rams vs. Bengals
Los Angeles Rams – With their victory over the 49ers the Rams became the second Super Bowl host in their stadium. The Tampa Bay Buccaneers, the only other team that has done this — and also the only one to win at home.
Matthew Stafford and the Rams are competing for the second Super Bowl title. The Rams’ only win was against the Tennessee Titans in 2000, when they were known as the St. Louis Rams.
Cincinnati Bengals –Cincinnati won over Kansas City Sunday to make it their third Super Bowl appearance (and first since 1989). The Bengals have not won the Super Bowl.
This team’s underdog experience is far different from 2019 when Cincinnati won only two games. The Bengals’ top draft pick was used to nab quarterback Joe Burrow. This has led to an unexpected playoff run.
