At least 18 people have been killed in flash floods in Afghanistan. 25 others were injured in the past three days, authorities reported on Monday.
A total of 15 provinces are affected by heavy rains and flash floods, said Nasim Haqqani, spokesman for national disaster management, the German Press Agency. Thousands of hectares of agricultural land have also been lost.
It’s supposed to rain more in the next few days. In Afghanistan, the floods come at an already difficult time: according to official figures, more than 1,000 people died in an earthquake in the south-east of the country just last month.
