Ryan Garcia’s next battle is away.
The lightweight contender declared on Instagram he is pulling from his July 9 struggle against Javier Fortuna. Garcia (21-0, 18 KOs) didn’t record a particular reason for his withdrawal.
“At this time it’s crucial to handle my wellbeing and health,” Garcia wrote in a article printed on Saturday. “I have resolved to take time to concentrate on turning into a more powerful variant of myself. I am hoping to return and am looking forward to stepping back in the ring once I am my lightest self”
Garcia’s statement came less than two weeks following Golden Boy Promotions declared the July bout.
Garcia is coming off a knockout win over former name competition Luke Campbell in January.
