Ukraine wants Germany to have heavier weapons so that it can better equip itself to defend itself against Russia. The armaments group Rheinmetall has offered to supply Marder infantry fighting vehicles that have been decommissioned and reconditioned by the German armed forces. According to the company, six of these have already been completed.
The federal government has not yet decided according to the current public status. According to their plans, they should only be used for a ring exchange with NATO partners.
While the hesitation of the German government continues to cause dissatisfaction and Ukraine repeatedly reaffirms its demand for heavy weapons from Germany, Rheinmetall is presenting a new battle tank under the model designation KF51 at the European arms fair Eurosatory in Paris. The tracked vehicle, which according to media reports is to be called the Panther and will succeed the Leopard, will be presented on Monday afternoon.
