Pro-Palestine Protester Arrested for Chaining Himself to Hampden Goal

A Pro-Palestine protester has been charged after allegedly chaining himself to the goalpost at Hampden ahead of the Scotland Women’s clash with Israel last night. The incident took place as Pro-Palestine supporters gathered at the national stadium in Glasgow, despite the game being played behind closed doors due to the EURO 2025 qualifier. Police were called to the pitch when a 24-year-old man chained himself to one of the goalposts and he has since been arrested and charged in connection with the incident.

The delayed match eventually kicked off at 7:35pm, with Scotland securing a 4-1 victory over Israel. Chief Superintendent Stevie Dolan emphasized the importance of ensuring the safety of all attendees and the surrounding area during the incident, stating that a proportionate policing response was deployed. The arrested man will now face further legal proceedings as a report is being sent to the Procurator Fiscal.

The disruption caused by the protester resulted in a delayed start to the qualifier match, but Scotland managed to emerge victorious in the end. The incident serves as a reminder of the ongoing tensions surrounding the Israel-Palestine conflict, with activists using various means to raise awareness and advocate for their cause.
