Prince William recently shared a funny story about his daughter Princess Charlotte’s reaction to his beard. The Prince of Wales revealed that when he first grew his beard, Charlotte didn’t like it at all and even shed tears over it. He had to shave it off initially but later decided to grow it back.
During an interview with UK print media in South Africa, Prince William laughed as he recounted Charlotte’s response to his facial hair. He mentioned that she was not a fan of his beard at first, which led to him shaving it off. However, he eventually grew it back.
After attending the church service at Crathie Kirk near Balmoral clean-shaven, Prince William once again sported his beard as he visited the Homelessness: Reframed exhibition at the Saatchi Gallery in London. This change in his appearance caught the attention of many, especially since the Prince was last seen with a beard on Christmas Day in 2008.
It was reported that Queen Elizabeth II had asked Prince William to shave off his beard while he was on a military secondment due to the regulations at that time. However, the guidelines regarding facial hair in the British Army have since been relaxed, allowing soldiers to grow beards and moustaches as long as they are kept neat and properly groomed.
During his four-day visit to Cape Town for the Earthshot Prize Awards, Prince William discussed the importance of businesses finding solutions to repair the planet. He emphasized the impact that these solutions can have and highlighted the need to showcase and promote such efforts.
Reflecting on the challenges he faced throughout the year, especially with his wife and father’s cancer diagnoses, Prince William described it as the hardest year of his life. Despite the difficulties, he expressed pride in his family for handling the situations they faced. He also mentioned being emotional during Lebo M’s performance at the Earthshot Prize Awards and hoped that his wife and children were able to watch the event’s live stream.
