Poland gives Ukraine the green light to use weapons against targets inside Russia. Critical voices warn of a global conflict.

Poland has given Ukraine the green light to use the weapons supplied by Warsaw against targets in Russia. This was confirmed by an interview with Poland’s Radio Zet by Polish Deputy Minister of Defense Cezary Tomczyk, according to Newsweek. Tomczyk stressed that there were “no restrictions on the use of Polish weapons by Ukrainians.”

However, Russian President Vladimir Putin has warned Ukraine against using long-range weapons supplied by NATO members against his country, saying this could trigger a “global conflict”.

Despite the warnings, Tomczyk stressed that Poland has no objections to Ukraine using the equipment it provided. He said: “Ukraine can use weapons as it sees fit. The Polish position is that there should be no restrictions in this regard. Ukraine should be able to fight with the equipment it receives, because that is what it receives this equipment for, to be effective.”

Other Western countries also support Ukraine’s use of NATO-supplied weapons to attack military targets on Russian soil, including France. However, the US government has expressed concerns about such steps. A Pentagon spokesman, Charlie Dietz, made it very clear to Newsweek that the US would “not support or enable attacks inside Russia.”
