Philadelphia Eagles safety Anthony Harris was a hero when he took an 11 year old Texas fan to the father-daughter dance.
According to CBS Philly, Audrey Soape lost her grandfather and father last year. Soape is a huge fan of Harris ever since his time with the Minnesota Vikings. She asked her mother if Harris would be willing to accompany her to the dance.
After Harris made it clear that he could accommodate it, Harris agreed to help Soape celebrate her special night.
Harris spoke to NBC10 Philadelphia and said that he would “Try to remove the helmet, try taking off the cape from what I do professionally, and just show some compassion for that family and try and show some support.”
Harris said to the outlet that he knew his family was still there to support him throughout his career and to offer prayers and support, so he wanted to “take a bit of notice” to what they needed.
Soape shared with CBS Philly that she was both nervous and excited. Holly Soape, Soape’s mother, said to CBS Philly that Harris’ foundation representatives contacted her after she agreed to attend the dance. They paid for Soape’s dress, shoes, and makeup.
Harris uploaded photos to his Instagram of the event, showing Soape and him laughing, dancing, and generally having a great time.
Holly Soape stated that “all of it was just an unbelievable fairy tale,” and said so to CBS Philly.
