Pepe, a Porto defender, was suspended from two matches Tuesday for being accused of punching an official from another Portuguese team in a brawl last week.
Red card for the veteran Portugal international who allegedly kicked a Sporting Lisbon club Director during an altercation at Friday’s 2-2 draw.
Bruno Tabata, a Sporting midfielder, was also suspended for two matches following being accused of pushing an official Porto club during the brawl.
After their cases have been fully investigated, the suspensions could be extended for either player to two years.
They were one of four players, two from each team, who were sent home.
Porto is six points ahead Sporting, who is second in the Portuguese league standings. Sporting is currently the champion.
