With a new agreement with Universal Filmed Entertainment Group, Peacock has increased its streaming services.
Tuesday’s announcement by the companies stated that all Universal films, including those of “Jurassic World”, and “Minions,” will be available exclusively on Peacock starting in 2022. This will occur no later than four months following their theatrical premieres. Both companies are subsidiaries to NBCUniversal’s Comcast.
This unique multi-year agreement guarantees that Universal films will be available to Peacock within an 18-month window. In the middle ten months, the films can be licensed to another service.
Universal’s 2022 slate includes “Jurassic World: Dominion”, “Minions: The Rise of Gru,” and “Puss In Boots: The Last Wish”. There will also be a new original film by Jordan Peele from “Get Out”.
Peacock-only content will also be developed and produced by the studio.
