A call for a possible child abduction led to a major police deployment around Outremont Park, in the borough of the same name, Monday evening.
Around 4:50 p.m., officers from the Montreal City Police Department responded to a call received by 911 to report a possible child abduction.
Field checks, however, revealed that no young person had actually been kidnapped, said SPVM spokeswoman Véronique Dubuc.
“It is important to note that no child abductions have been confirmed and no corresponding disappearances have been reported,” she said.
At the end of the evening, the agents were still busy going door to door, meeting witnesses and tracing cameras near the scene, in order to reconstruct the thread of events.
