A few days ago, the Institute for the Study of War reported that Russia was setting up new battalions of volunteer soldiers from ethnic minorities. Even then, there were isolated protests in these groups, as my colleague Christopher Stolz summarized – you can find the text here (T ).
Now the US military think tank is again writing on its website about dissent between Moscow and ethnic minorities, albeit to a limited extent.
It is reported by Vasili Matenow, who officially registered the organization “Asians of Russia” to work for vulnerable peoples “who are discriminated against by the Russian state”. He therefore emphasizes that the goal of the organization is to end the war in Ukraine – because of the devastating statistics regarding dead soldiers from precisely those minority groups.
1. The Russian president’s biographer: “Putin is not sick, he is evil”
“The Killer in the Kremlin” is the name of John Sweeney’s latest book. The journalist on the crimes of the Russian president, his role in the war and his possible end.
2. Book author about Volodymyr Zelenskyy: “He is a person, not a monument”
Volodymyr Zelenskyj has been celebrated since the Russian war of aggression. Author Sergii Rudenko has observed the Ukrainian President for several years.
3. Russia expert on Moscow’s plans: “Regime change is out of reach for Russia”
Lavrov is more open than ever about Russia’s plans for a change of government in Ukraine. “That wasn’t a smart idea,” says Russia expert Gerhard Mangott.
4. Neutrality in war is often hypocritical: the EU must sanction states that are on Putin’s side
Germany and the EU could consistently sanction countries that refuse to show solidarity with Ukraine. This also increases the pressure on Moscow. A comment.
