After a fire and several explosions at a blasting and test site used by the police to dispose of explosive ordnance, the surrounding forest caught fire in Grunewald early Thursday morning. The fire in Nikolassee expanded significantly by the late afternoon, according to the fire department, 50 hectares are now affected by fire or smoke.
The fire brigade is on a large-scale operation and has set up a 1000-meter exclusion zone due to ongoing explosions.
The S-Bahn Berlin reports that because of the fire “the train service on the S7 line between Grunewald and Wannsee is still interrupted”. Between Wannsee and Potsdam Hauptbahnhof, the S7 line would only run every 20 minutes.

Regional and long-distance trains are also still affected and will not run between Charlottenburg and Wannsee/Potsdam Hauptbahnhof.
