The police arrested a man who had spread hate comments online in connection with the killing of two police officers in the Palatinate.
The 35-year-old wanted by an arrest warrant was noticed by an officer in downtown Kaiserslautern on Wednesday afternoon, the police said on Friday. He was brought before the investigating judge on Thursday and is now in custody.
At the office, the man suddenly complained of chest pains on Wednesday. An ambulance and a doctor could not find anything abnormal. When the 35-year-old was then supposed to be taken to a cell, he announced that he would spread the word that he had been mistreated and tortured by the officers.
Whether this constitutes an announcement of a criminal offense is the subject of further investigations.
