Google Search now has its own built-in tuner, so you no longer need to purchase a tuner for your guitar or download an app.
According to Android Police, the new feature was launched this week. You can access the feature by simply typing “Google tuner” in the search bar. It has a microphone button that will let you know if your tune needs to be adjusted after you’ve strung it.
You can use the new built-in tuner with any phone as well as a desktop or laptop. Although results may vary from other guitar tuning apps like Guitar Hero, Android Police claims that Google Tuner worked well on the Pixel 5a and Galaxy Z Fold3 smartphones. Similar results were reported by the Verge using an iPhone 12 Pro as well as a Windows desktop.
You can find a variety of guitar tune apps on the Google Play store. Many have ratings ranging from 3.5 to 4.5 stars. It’s convenient to be able to tune your guitar quickly using your phone or computer. However, there aren’t always any ways to reduce background noise or ensure it picks up all the sounds depending on what your device is.
