The World Swimming Championships have been held by the international swimming federation FINA since 1973 and have been held every two years since 2001. This year, the German swimmer Florian Wellbrock won bronze for over 1500 meters freestyle in Budapest.
The defending champion from Magdeburg had to admit defeat on Saturday in 14:36.94 minutes to Italian Gregorio Paltrinieri, who became world champion in 14:32.80 minutes.
In addition, Olympic champion Bobby Finke from the USA beat Wellbrock. It was Wellbrock’s second medal after silver in the 800-meter freestyle.
