Firms reminded to adhere to data protection regulations
The National Privacy Commission (NPC) has emphasized the importance of businesses complying with data protection laws when processing personal information of clients, customers, and employees. NPC’s Data Security and Compliance Office Director, Aubin Arn Nieva, stated that all business owners, regardless of size, are required to register with the commission. Those who do not meet the registration threshold must still submit a declaration for exemption to avoid penalties for non-compliance. It is crucial for businesses to prioritize data security and ensure they are following the necessary protocols to protect the personal information of individuals.
