(Quebec) Liberal MP Madwa-Nika Cadet says Premier François Legault is “willfully blind” on the question of the costs of the new version of the third link between Quebec and Lévis.
“Either he didn’t watch them and that was fine with him, or he saw them and he doesn’t want to divulge them.” But in any case, we seem to want to show the numbers that suit us and hide the numbers that don’t suit us,” she said.
During the appropriations review on Wednesday, Mr. Legault said he had not seen the estimated costs for the transit tunnel project. A cost estimate exists, but it is redacted in the version that has been made public.
Cadet doesn’t believe the premier didn’t look at the numbers.
The member calls the government contradictory on the subject.
Liberal MP Frédéric Beauchemin calls this approach “messy” and fears there will be cost overruns.
The deputy for Taschereau, Étienne Grandmont, is also skeptical of the Prime Minister’s assertion.
“I cannot understand why such an important project, which would be perhaps one of the largest infrastructure projects in Quebec, that this question has not been addressed. It shows the lack of seriousness. There’s a kind of levity and improvisation,” he said.
PQ MP Joël Arseneau has two hypotheses on the matter. “Either he is showing an absolutely aberrant lack of rigor, or he is laughing at us. I let you choose,” he argued.
