A 14-year-old girl has admitted to stabbing three people at Ysgol Dyffryn Aman in Ammanford, Carmarthenshire. The incident occurred in April and resulted in injuries to teachers Fiona Elias, Liz Hopkin, and a pupil. Although the teenager pleaded guilty to three counts of wounding with intent and possession of a bladed article on school premises, she denied three counts of attempted murder. The trial is set to take place in September at Swansea Crown Court.
During the court proceedings, the accused, whose identity is protected due to her age, only confirmed her name and entered her pleas. She kept her gaze to the ground as the judge addressed the case. The school was put on lockdown for four hours following the attack, while the victims received medical treatment in the hospital. CCTV footage captured the incident, providing crucial evidence for the investigation.
At the time of the incident, the girl was 13 years old. She will remain in secure youth detention accommodation until the trial begins on 30 September. The community has been shaken by this violent act, and the upcoming trial will shed more light on the circumstances surrounding the attack. The safety and well-being of students and staff at Ysgol Dyffryn Aman remain a top priority for the school administration and local authorities.
