Young people on Sylt chanting xenophobic slogans during a party. Someone raises their arm, gives a Hitler salute and holds two fingers to their mouth. The scandalous video only lasts a few seconds – but it hit like a bomb. The state security agency is investigating, politicians are alarmed, numerous celebrities are stunned – and the bar itself is trying everything to distance itself from the attitudes of the guests in the video.
A media report asked how it could be that some guests were yelling “Foreigners out” during “L’amour toujours” while everyone else was still partying. Why didn’t anyone intervene?
The local Pony in the island town of Kampen on Sylt, which immediately distanced itself from the visitors after the video became known and banned them from the house, has now posted a new video on Instagram that is intended to show: The small group spread racism at the party unnoticed.
Watch the video here:
“To everyone who keeps asking: ‘Didn’t you notice that?’ You can see for yourself that the majority on the video are having fun while a small group is chanting something that is incompatible with our core values,” write the Pony- operator to do so.
Seen in the video: Apparently a surveillance recording showing the celebrants. The bar team drew a circle around the group that made the scandalous video.
“We thought for a long time whether we should publish the video,” the operators continue. “We are sorry that our guests and employees are being taken into custody because of a few people.” They are now being “vilely insulted” and even receiving death threats as a result of the incident, it goes on to say.
“We have responded to all constructive messages and questions and have therefore decided to release the video to protect ourselves, our employees and our loyal guests.”
The bar previously stated: “If our staff had noticed such behavior at any time, we would have reacted immediately. We would have immediately called the police and filed a criminal complaint. We have now been able to do that.” There were several hundred guests at the party.
