An 18-year-old man succumbed to his injuries on the night of Sunday to Monday after being hit by a projectile from a firearm in the Anjou sector, in Montreal. This sixth homicide of the year is linked to a conflict between street gangs, according to our sources.
The event, first considered an attempted murder, took place around 10 p.m. on Sunday. Police officers from the Service de police de la Ville de Montréal (SPVM) had found the young victim unconscious on avenue Hérisson, not far from Highway 25, in the borough of Anjou.
According to our information, the murder could be linked to street gangs in Saint-Léonard. The victim was known to the police.
She was shot while walking on the sidewalk. The suspect or suspects were traveling in a vehicle.
This is the first firearm homicide to occur in 2023 on SPVM territory.
