Satisfaction with the federal government has fallen to the lowest level since the traffic light coalition took office in the ARD “Deutschlandtrend”.

Only 31 percent of the participants in the current survey stated that they were satisfied or very satisfied, as the WDR announced on Thursday in Cologne. That is five percentage points less than in August. 68 percent said they were less or not at all satisfied.

The coalition’s top personnel also lost approval: 49 percent are currently very satisfied or satisfied with Foreign Minister Annalena Baerbock (Greens), six percentage points less than in the previous month. Economics Minister Robert Habeck (Greens) is 43 percent satisfied (minus seven), Chancellor Olaf Scholz (SPD) at 35 percent (minus seven).

26 percent are satisfied or very satisfied (minus four) with Finance Minister Christian Lindner (FDP). On the other hand, CDU leader and opposition leader Friedrich Merz gained some respect – he now has 30 percent satisfaction (plus two).

According to the information, there was little change compared to the previous survey in party preference. If there were a federal election on Sunday, the Union would get 27 percent (minus one).

The Greens are at 22 percent (minus one), the SPD is unchanged at 17 percent. The FDP reaches eight percent (plus one), the AfD is unchanged at 13 percent, and the left comes to five percent (plus one). All other parties together come to eight percent.
