The Berlin State Constitutional Court is currently examining the transcripts of all 2,257 polling stations in the House of Representatives elections last September. The constitutional court had requested them in mid-April and given the state returning authority a deadline of May 23.
They have already arrived in full and are being evaluated, a spokeswoman for the State Constitutional Court said on Friday to the German Press Agency. However, the additional statement requested by the state returning authority on the organizational preparation of the election is still pending.
It is about incorrect and missing ballot papers in individual polling stations and the duration of temporary closures of individual polling stations. The Constitutional Court also asked for more information on the number of copied ballot papers and on keeping polling stations open after 6 p.m. There were a number of breakdowns and organizational problems in the election on September 26. After receiving 15 objections, the Constitutional Court opened an election review procedure. By the end of March, more than 700 people and institutions involved had the opportunity to comment – more than 100 made use of it.
