Foo Fighters cancelled all scheduled concerts following the death drummer Taylor Hawkins.
The rockers were scheduled to perform at the Grammy Awards in Las Vegas Sunday. They also had spring dates at the New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival; Columbia; Raleigh, North Carolina; Daytona Beach; Florida; Charlotte; North Carolina; and the Boston Calling Music Festival. There are also summer dates in Germany.
Foo Fighters released a statement Tuesday stating that they had to cancel all future tour dates due to the tragic loss of their brother.
Hawkins, who was on a South American tour supporting the rock band, died Friday. He was fifty.
The band released a statement saying that they were sorry and shared in the disappointment of not seeing each other as planned. Let’s instead, grieve, heal, be close to our loved ones, and appreciate the music and shared memories that we have made.
Hawkins was Alanis Morissette’s touring drummer when he joined Foo fighters in 1997. He was a part of the biggest albums of Foo Fighters, including “One by One” (In Your Honor), and hit singles such as “Best of You.”
David Grohl, lead singer, called Hawkins “brother” in his 2021 book, “The Storyteller”, and referred to him as “brother of another mother, my best buddy, a man whom I would take a gun to protect.”
