In April 1986, the first Red Nose Day was held. It quickly became a bi-annual event.
Red Nose Day, which will take place every year, will also be an annual event. Together with Sports Relief campaigns and more than PS1 billion in donations, the charity is aiming to end child poverty worldwide.
Red Nose Day, which will be celebrated annually in 2022, will also become an annual event. Sport Relief will continue to exist as a year-round organization.
Henry spoke out about this year’s event and the importance it continues to have.
Lenny Henry stated that Red Nose Day’s spirit is to encourage everyone to participate and feel the joy of helping others.
He said, “I have been inspired by so many people, and it usually its members of the public who do extraordinary. It amazes me how passionate and dedicated the people who run these projects are, both in the developed world and here in the United States. They want to make a difference in the lives of many.
“So, to anyone who has donated to these life-changing projects, I thank you personally. Without you, we wouldn’t have been able to do it.” I am inspired by you.
