The Latin music album “Revelacion” received a nomination from the “Only Murders in the Building” star.
Selena Gomez’s fans and colleagues are celebrating a major career milestone.
Tuesday’s announcement by the Recording Academy stated that Gomez’s album “Revelacion”, her first album that features music sung in Spanish, has been nominated at the 64th Grammy Awards for best Latin pop album.
This nomination is the Recording Academy’s first award for the “Only Murders in the Building” star.
In the stacked category, she will be competing against Alex Cuba, Pablo Alboran and Paula Arenas.
After the March release of “De Una Vez,” Gomez released “Revelacion,” which was a labeled an EP.
This track earned her the Latin Grammy Awards’ first nomination. Marc Anthony won the golden gramophone for “Un Amor Eterno” after his song “De Una Vez” was nominated.
Twitter was used by selenators to commend the singer for his major accomplishment.
“Selena has been officially nominated for a Grammy, We are so proud of you,” a fan wrote.
Another mention was a tweet in 2011 where Gomez first teased the possibility of a Spanish record.
“So, who’s going to tell selena gomez, 19 years old? That this spanish record will be nominated grammy?” was asked by a fan.
Selenators were quick and proud to highlight the years of hard work that Gomez has put in to achieving this goal. Gomez has released four EPs, three solo studio albums and her most recent album “Rare” in 2020.
One fan tweeted, “selena Gomez proved many people wrong with revelacion,” “She’s been making high quality music for so many years she really deserved this sm.”
Gomez talked to Vogue before “Revelacion” was released and said that she wasn’t sure if she wanted continue to make music.
She shared that it was difficult to continue doing music when people don’t take you seriously. “I have had moments when I thought, “What the point?” “Why do I continue doing this?”
She said, “I believe there are many people who enjoy my songs, and for this I’m so grateful, for which I keep going. But I think the next album will be different. It’s my last chance before I retire music.
I hope that this accomplishment will change her mind.
Fans and Gomez will have to wait until January 31, 2022 to find out if she is awarded the prestigious award.
Jon Batiste is the leader of the pack with 11 nominations. Justin Bieber and Doja Cat are next, as well as Billie Eilish, Billie Eilish, Olivia Rodrigo, and Doja Cat.
