Aaron Ramsdale’s goalkeeping performance was outstanding to secure Arsenal’s 2-0 win over Leicester. This extended Arsenal’s unbeaten streak in the Premier League to seven matches on Saturday.
Arsenal took control of the match with goals from center back Gabriel and midfielder Emile Rowe in the first 18 minutes. Ramsdale was not far behind at the King Power Stadium.
Although his save to tip wide KelechiIheanacho’s curling shot was impressive it paled in comparison with his flying leap across the line to palm James Maddison’s free kick onto the crossbar before half-time. Brendan Rodgers, Leicester manager, was already celebrating a goal from his technical area.
Ramsdale was signed by Sheffield United from the summer transfer window. He also denied Ademola Lookman, Harvey Barnes, with sprawling saves during the second period. Arsenal had to defend hard to keep its clean sheet.
Arsenal lost three of its first league games. This put Mikel Arteta under pressure early in the season. However, the team has since won five of seven of the next seven to climb into the top half.
Smith Rowe was a key part of that. The 21-year old midfielder has scored three goals in his last five league matches, with the second against Leicester. He did this by scoring from within the area after Alexandre Lacazette tackled Luke Thomas.
Gabriel scored Arsenal’s first goal by heading home a header from Bukayo Saka’s right-wing corner. It happened in the fifth minute.
