On Tuesday, the Chicago Blackhawks placed captain Jonathan Toews as well as Henrik Borgstrom under the NHL’s COVID-19 protocol. This gave the winless team five players.
Toews, Borgstrom and Jujhar Khaira were among the other forwards who missed practice. Marc Crawford and Tomas Mitell, assistant coaches, are absent from the team due to the same reason.
However, the COVID-19 list does not necessarily indicate that any of the coaches or players tested positive. They could have been close to someone who had tested positive. The entire team was fully vaccinated before the beginning of training camp.
Chicago’s record is 0-5-1 going into Wednesday night’s match against Toronto. Kane and Seth Jones are tied for fourth in the Blackhawks’ assist totals. He also leads the team with four assists.
Toews scored his first points since last season’s absence due to what he called chronic immune response syndrome. He had two assists in Sunday’s 6-3 defeat to Detroit.
