You are one step closer to the weekend…

You can spend hours watching a movie, or a few movies.

This is what’s on offer for Thursday, October 7th…

Hidden Figures – Film4 – 6.30pm

Janelle Monae, Taraji P. Henson and Octavia Spencer star in this fact-based drama about three mathematicians that made a significant contribution to the Space Race in America in 1960s America.

Casino Royale – ITV4 – 9pm

This is the 2006 vintage, and where Daniel Craig began his career as James Bond.

After all five of his films have been released, it’s now time to ask the question: Is Casino Royale the best?

The writer would argue that it is. Skyfall is a close second. Quantum of Solace is third. Fourth, there is no time to die and Spectre is dead last.

That’s my opinion. Another suggestion: You should watch Casino Royale tonight. It’s great fun.

Fire With Fire – Turner Classic Movies/TCM – 9pm

Dear reader, I won’t lie to you. This film is new to me.

It sounds okay, perhaps?

“A fireman witnesses the murder of a white supremacist and is placed under protection by police. He falls for his FBI minder and is soon in love. However, he is left feeling that he can only protect them from the killer if he makes it his own law.

That sounds dramatic. It also features Bruce Willis, Josh Duhamel, and Rosario Dawson. You can’t ask for more.

Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull Film4 – 9pm

The fourth.

We think this is the worst by a significant distance.

Allied – Film4 – 11.25pm

World War II drama where Marion Cotillard and Brad Pitt fall in love.

But, are they really who claim to be?

The Matrix – ITV4 – 12.05am

Keanu Reeves Is The One.

October is upon us, so we have some scary movie recommendations
