An Isle of Wight zoo is taking extra measures to find four racoons that have escaped from their enclosure at Amazon World Zoo Park. The zoo has deployed tracker dogs and drones to help locate the animals, and they are asking the public to keep an eye out for them. However, the zoo reassures that the racoons are not dangerous.
Supervisor Rowena Welsh mentioned that the racoons are new to the zoo, and everyone is actively searching for them. She emphasized that the protocol is for people to call the zoo immediately if they spot the racoons, rather than trying to approach them as they would be very frightened. Welsh also mentioned that the racoons are more scared of humans than humans are of them.
The zoo has also reached out on social media for assistance, asking people to be on the lookout for the escaped racoons. They provided a contact number and email for any sightings and advised locals to check sheds and bonfire piles as the racoons tend to sleep during the day and become active at dusk.
In other news, there have been recent developments in various sectors, including a teacher being jailed for sexual offenses against a student, planned strikes by London Underground workers being suspended due to a revised pay offer, and an increase in Channel crossings in October.
Despite the escaped racoons causing concern, the Isle of Wight zoo is working diligently to ensure the safety of both the animals and the public. They are hopeful that with the help of tracker dogs, drones, and the community, the racoons will be safely returned to their enclosure soon.
