Norwegian Cruise Line’s Breakaway-class ship, Norwegian Encore, is set to undergo a significant refurbishment led by the longstanding design partners, Studio DADO. With over 10 years of collaboration, Studio DADO has a deep understanding of NCL’s desired style, look, and level of service for its guests.
The interior design of Norwegian Encore is described as warm, welcoming, light, sleek, modern, relaxed, open, and spacious. The enhancements to the ship include the introduction of the Mediterranean specialty restaurant Palomar and the expansion of two popular specialty venues, Cagney’s Steakhouse and Teppanyaki. Teppanyaki, in particular, will offer a greater capacity by taking over space from other dining outlets on the ship.
Mr. Anslow, a representative from NCL, highlights the attention to detail in the design of Teppanyaki, which pays homage to Japan’s rich history of craftsmanship. The restaurant features a dark interior with minimalist decor, handcrafted pottery, and Japanese artwork displayed on floating shelves. The venue is designed to create a whimsical Japanese backdrop for guests to enjoy.
In response to passenger feedback and demand, Norwegian Encore will debut with additional balcony staterooms and club balcony staterooms. The Premier Owner’s Suites in The Haven by Norwegian will also be expanded to meet the growing demand for three-bedroom suites on NCL’s ships.
Outside, a major change to Norwegian Encore is the introduction of Spice H2O, an adults-only area designed by Studio DADO. This outdoor lounge replaces the laser tag arena and offers guests a relaxing space with pools, hot tubs, and day beds reminiscent of an Ibiza beach club.
After the refurbishment, Norwegian Encore will embark on a transatlantic crossing from Southampton to Miami, followed by round-trip sailings to the Caribbean and Alaska. The ship’s itinerary includes stops at various ports, including NCL’s private Bahamian island, Great Stirrup Cay.
Overall, the enhancements to Norwegian Encore aim to provide guests with a welcoming and inclusive cruise experience, combining relaxation with the finer things in life such as great food, art, wine, and entertainment. NCL looks forward to receiving feedback from guests as they experience the updated ship.
