Memorial Day 2024: Bay Area Events to Honor Veterans

Memorial Day is a time to honor and remember the lives of those who made the ultimate sacrifice in service to the United States. This year, various Bay Area communities and organizations are hosting events to commemorate this important day. Here is a list of some of the events happening in the Bay Area:

Alameda: USS Hornet Sea, Air and Space Museum Ceremony

The USS Hornet Sea, Air and Space Museum is hosting its annual Memorial Day ceremony on Monday at 11 a.m. The event will feature a guest speaker, U.S. Navy Medical Corps Rear Admiral Michael S. Baker, a wreath laying, and a Memorial Squadron flyover. The museum will also have a book sale for used military history books. Admission is free for veterans and included in admission for others.

Saratoga: 97th Annual Memorial Day Observance

Saratoga will be hosting its 97th Annual Memorial Day Observance starting at 9:30 a.m. at the Memorial Arch at Blaney Plaza in the Historic Saratoga District. The procession will move to Madronia Cemetery for a service at 10 a.m., with the event expected to end at 11 a.m.
